Katharina Scheucher
In Mimicry - You Are Here

Katharina Scheucher is interested in the connections between space, perception, and time along with the possible illusions and realities attendant to them. The presence of visitors constantly changes the situation, thereby continuously recreating the location and its qualities. Glas, plaster, textiles, cardboard as well as various found objects are turned into newly assembled objects and made available for communication in inventive ways. In her works, the artist is searching for that which is hidden, secret, and uncanny in the everyday. That which is not seen but present comes to light and says what it needs to say. Realities emerge from this for split moments only to collapse and disappear again into illusion. Interventions into space sharpen the perception of one’s own presence in the midst of this presentation. This is how the artist generates active tension for the audience. She creates new ways of seeing, making surprising conversations possible.
